Case Study of Zambia Jiangxi Economic Cooperation Zone Fulfilling Social Responsibility

In August 2018, under the guidance of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee and Government, seven state-owned enterprises in Jiangxi Province, including China Jiangxi International Economic and Technological Cooperation Co., Ltd. and Jiangxi Copper Industry Group Co., Ltd., jointly invested in the establishment of "Jiangxi United Industrial Investment Co., Ltd." in Zambia to promote the construction of the Zambia Jiangxi Economic Cooperation Zone (Jiangxi Multi functional Economic Zone). On October 13, 2023, Zambian President Hitchlaima and the Executive Vice Governor of Jiangxi Province, Ren Zhufeng, unveiled the plaque for the cooperation zone, and the main facilities of the cooperation zone were officially put into use. The park has always adhered to the concept of consultation, co construction, and sharing, rooted in the local area, integrated into the local community, and actively fulfilled its social responsibilities, especially in promoting Zambia's industrialization, employment, and improving people's livelihoods. It has promoted the rapid development of Zambia's economy and pushed for deeper development of China Zambia friendship and cooperation.
Drive local development
Zambia Jiangxi Economic Cooperation Zone is a major decision made by Jiangxi Provincial Government to actively respond to the national "the Belt and Road" strategy, strengthen international production capacity cooperation, and drive provincial advantageous enterprises to "go global". The park's functional positioning integrates industry, trade, logistics, and comprehensive services, with complete leisure and entertainment, medical education, and living facilities. It plans to create a new ecological urban area with Sino Zambian cooperation characteristics that meets the needs of Zambia's economic development. Since its construction, the park has created thousands of job opportunities for the local area, greatly improving the living standards of the local people. It is expected that after full operation, it will create nearly 6000 job opportunities for the local area.

2、 Donate materials for the prevention and control of COVID-19 and the construction of Qibangbu Community Clinic to the central province
On May 15, 2020, in order to assist the government's epidemic prevention and control work and community clinic construction in the area where the cooperation zone is located, prevent the spread of the epidemic in the community, and reduce the threat to the health and safety of Zambian people, the cooperation zone donated 15000 masks, 588 bottles of disinfectant and hand sanitizer, and building materials such as cement and roof tiles required for the construction of the Mukalashi community clinic to the central provincial government, with a total value of 550000 kwacha.
3、 Donate epidemic prevention materials to Kabwe City
After the COVID-19, it has profoundly changed the global political and economic pattern, and also closely linked the fate of people around the world. Zambia Jiangxi Economic Cooperation Zone actively assists the local people in preventing and controlling the epidemic, and works with the local people through thick and thin.
Since the discovery of the COVID-19 in Zambia on March 18, 2020, nearly 1382 patients have been diagnosed in only three months. Due to the relatively backward medical conditions in Zambia and the shortage of epidemic prevention materials, in order to work together to overcome this difficult moment, on June 15, 2020, Comrade Qin Xiangui of the cooperation zone, entrusted by the People's Government of Pingxiang City, donated about 30000 US dollars worth of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control materials to the Kabwe City Government, including 30000 masks (including 10000 KN95 and 20000 medical masks) to support Kabwe City to win the fight against COVID-19 epidemic at an early date.
4、 Donate cholera prevention materials to Qibangbu
On February 12, 2024, the cooperation zone actively responded to the call of the local government and promptly extended a helping hand to Zambia in fighting against the cholera epidemic. It donated necessary medical supplies and daily necessities such as buckets and hand sanitizers to the local area, helping Zambian people prevent cholera, slow down the spread of the epidemic, and get out of the haze as soon as possible.
5、 Actively concerned about women's rights and interests
On March 8, 2024, the cooperation zone actively organized female employees to participate in the 114th "March 8th" International Women's Day series of activities organized by the Qibangbu region, sending holiday wishes to every "she"! Nearly half of the employees in the cooperation zone are women. The park pays great attention to women's rights and provides them with a good employment environment. It also provides strong support in their work and life, creating a broader stage for them to shine and protect women's rights and promote their comprehensive development at a higher level.
